On the day of your appointment:

  • Refrain from using lotions on your body (a dry surface is imperative for MFR)

  • Wear or bring treatment clothes (loose fitting gym shorts & cami or tank top)

  • Arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to check in at the front desk & change into your treatment clothes

  • Your therapist(s) will meet you in the lobby of the 2nd floor and show you to the treatment room

During your mfr session:

Your therapist(s) will go over your health history and take a postural analysis.  During treatment, your therapist(s) will engage the fascial system with sustained pressure for at least 5-7 minutes per technique.

Once on the treatment table we will cease talking. Since MFR is a whole body-mind-spirit modality, both patient and therapist must “tune-in” and feel what is happening as tissues release and energy moves throughout the body.

We may dialogue at times during the session but dialoging is different than chit-chatting.

Your symptoms will be addressed, although the whole body is treated. You may feel sensations in different areas of your body away from where your therapist(s) are treating. This is normal and gives clues to where your restrictions are and what to treat next.

Emotions are a normal part of our human experience and often times get imprinted into our fascial system. Allowing yourself to feel will greatly enhance your treatment.

After a session

Now that your fascial system has been opened and ready to rehydrate, it is important to drink more water than you normally do.

Be mindful of what unfolds in the hours and days after each session, so you can convey that info to us at your next session. Journaling is a wonderful adjunct to your MFR journey and it can also be a great memory jogger for when we catch up session to session.

You may feel fantastic after a session or you may feel not-so-wonderful after a session. If you’re feeling increased discomfort or different sensations after a session you’re likely experiencing what’s called Therapeutic Pain or Healing Crisis. Although this might not feel pleasant, know that it is a reflection of significant positive shifts occurring deep within your body.

Use your therapy ball as instructed and be gentle with yourself.
